Girl Squad with Craft on the Run

Good morning how are you? I am here today for Craft on the Run, and yes I know its been awhile, stupid lack of mojo will do that to you but I am here to share this amazing collection which is IN STORE NOW, Mintays Glam Rock !!!

I have to say this collection has been out for a little while but I have spent the time fussy cutting and then I just sat it aside because lets face it this stunning collection can be a little intimidating and with that feeling not a lot of creating can happen.

But once you get past that feeling oohhhh the fun you will have with this collection !!!!

#30/365

So to start things off I used a white cut file title and to see this and many more why dont you pop into the store for an exclusive purchase - you can only see these in store only.

Now once you have your large title, you can think about changing the colour, I really love a metallic gold and with mist/inks I just found it was a little yellow, so this is where alcohol inks come into there own... there mica pigments really grab and shine with a lux effect,  mean who doesnt love gold right?

The little crown is made of paper clay in a mold to add the wow factor paint it also with alcohol ink......

Dont forget while you have your ink on your brush flick it over your page.

Also have dedicated brush for your ink...... because it cant be used for anything else, you can soften it for the next time you use it with the same colour in or isopropyl alcohol which you can pick up at any hardware store.

Dont have the right gold embellishment? Why not hit it with some alcohol ink?

Dont be afraid of layering your photo over your large cut outs.... your brain will automatically fill in the missing letter so you still can read it.

Be You tiful

Well I dont know about you but I am feeling the lack of any motivation well maybe thats not the right thing, maybe its more I want to scrap, I have great intentions and then when I go to do it then theres nothing..... I am I broken.... for me I know if I dont use it I lose it so any ideas on how to find it I want to but I just dont know.

I was lucky enough to celebrate my birthday last weekend and with that I managed to get to a weekend crop at Craft on the Run and I did manage a few layouts which is a start.... I have been playing with my cameo.... and its a real love hate relationship with it thats for sure when she works its amazing and when it doesnt I really want to through it out the window.

But it decided to play along and I managed a few cuts which have made it to some layouts. So over the next week or two I will start being good and blog them to share. (Also that means I get to play with my Birthday present that Hubby spolit me with a Chromebook, so now I can sit in my comfy couch and type away).

Today I am sharing with you a cut out file using it with the combination of Mintay Glam Rock, and what a stunning collection this is I have had it sitting on my shelves for a couple of months, a sort of getting to know it type of thing, sometimes when you have a big bold collection like this its important to do that, figure out how to show case it without stuffing it up.

#29/365

I knew I wanted a lust gold colour and none of my mists or ink hit the spot..... this is where the mica pigments come into play that are in alcohol inks, they leave a wonderful luster for sure.

Do you have embellishments that your not keen on the colour? Why not hit them with a little alcohol ink and change the way they are..... think of all the little embellishments you have in your stash, imagine what you could do with them !!!

So this is one of many new layouts created using cut files and I have to say that its starting to wake up the creative part of my brain and its getting things done so thats a start right?

Till next time, have a creative day.

Beautiful Moments

Good morning how are you?I am here today with my final Dusty Attic post for May..... where has the time gone? I think this time last year we just we in lockdown I remember feeling very disappointed as it was my Birthday and my 40th..... well things happen and if nothing I have learnt from these couple of years is to not get too fixated on plans and learn to roll with things - remembering I cant control everything even though I would like to lol, just ask my kids and hubby.

Today I have a very girly layout for you with plenty of little details that can easily be added to any of your projects. This layout is also based on the lower half of this months moodboard focusing on the dusty pinks and browns, remember you dont have to use the whole moodboard to enter you can pick some of the colours.

I wanted a nice grungy background, I tend to go through stages and you will start to notice these ''tends'' with my work, where I will do a heap of mixed media, then flick to graphic, then to fussy cutting layouts......

#28/365

So inspired with mixed media I start with the background using the  Scales Stencil and my Distress Crayons because I dont want to spend all day drying my media.

Once you have done this step you can make blended patches by wetting your finger and tapping it on the thicker part of the colours and blend them out, by doing this your wont have to long to wait for the background to dry.

Once you have your background its all about building up all your form of your layout, this is where large chipboard peices can really make a difference, for this layout I used Flowering Vine  as the piece to work around, to prep the piece I just used white spray paint and went from there......

Add your photo to the layout then foam mount the Flowering Vine piece over the top of your photo.

First I add all the large fussy cut flowers around the Flowering Vine piece remembering to go over some and under sections continue that technique around your photo also.

Once your happy with the paper additions its about now adding chains from the top and in between your flowers..... these I just spray painted white.... while doing that I also do the Carousel Horse, Beautiful Moment,Mini Feathers,Chains, and Mini Feather.

To finish off, its all about different textures, I have used a gold glitter sand, gold microbeads, pearls, clear glass beads and rhinestones.

My Heart is Full

Good morning how are you? I am here today with my take on Dusty Attics Mays Moodboard, tell me where is the year going ? To think this time last year everything was shut down I missed my 40th because of Covid and I have to say we have been very lucky here in Western Australia, so this year I could celebrate but I really am not feeling it this year... maybe I am a little burnt out lol.

But one positive thing is my creative juices are starting to flow a little bit, they maybe slow but they are coming and this months Dusty Attic Moodboard definitely got them flowing....,,.

When in doubt fussy cut.... yes I am one of those people who lives for a great paper to fussy cut, it allows plenty of interaction between layers and with chipboard, what better than making your own original page based on some fussy cutting?

For the changes I used a cream based spray paint but I have to say it was a little bit too stark with the colours on the page so I used a Walnut Distress Oxide to tone it down a little bit.

For the title I used Dulux Grey Chalk spray paint then over the top with Distress oxide Worn Denim which  then added a little bit more of a steel grey effect.

I love using chains you would have noticed by now, I love how they can draw your eye down and around the layout and you can only use small pieces to make a huge impact.
