Scrap Around the World September Challenge

It been awhile since I have played along with Scrap Around The World.... not by choice just be time always running out so this month I decided to get in there early and create way. This month mood board really got me thinking it was created by  Amy Voorthuis.

As you can see by my layout the thing that spoke to me was the steam punk heart. I just love the gears and the layering of the metal.

I added the believe light bulb, because the saying on the board is all about belief and believing. 

I took inspiration on the colours, the purples, the yellows and the browns throughout the board, I just made them more vibrant.

Also I took inspiration from the gold designs on the books.

Scrap Around the World April Mood Board

Today I wanted to share with you this months Scrap Around the World Aprils mood board challenge. This stunning board was created by Riikka Kovasin. As soon as I saw this board I knew exactly what I wanted to do and these moments of thought are very rare !!!

I took influence from the vibrant butterflies. I stamped all the butterflies and did some fussy cutting, to help create multiple layers. I used Dylusions to make them vibrant.

The circle chipboard mimics the center of the quote in the trunk. The wood pattern paper also reflects that image as well the cracked image.

The quote for me was perfect for the photo, my boys. Getting them to take a great photo is hard, they tend to put on false smiles, which makes them look tense, but if you get them distracted with other things, you get great photos.

Scrap Around The World

Tonight I thought I would share with you my Scrap Around the World March mood board layout. Nothing strikes my fears like a pastel mood board!!! So feeling the challenge off I set with a goal of wanting to do one of those layout you see on the Prima blog, the ones you wonder how did they do that many flowers?

So my inspiration is clearly flowers!!! In multiple shades of pinks. The lace punched pp is a reference to the dress and its beautiful layers. I just had to add the Prima Butterfly, I have had this in my stash since before Amelia was born it was the first girl scrapping supply I brought when I found out I was having a girl.

The charms are reference to the Necklace on the dress form.

This lovely Scrap FX Art Noueau Circle is referenced in the Cake stand. Amelia is also wearing ruffles.

In my excitement to share this layout I forgot to add a title, but I have since added one something nice and simple in plain white. I really enjoyed creating this layout and it has 73 flowers on it in total, that is a record for me for sure.

This months mood board I must say did make me panic a little as I am quite often purple challenged. But there's only one what to deal with that go head on and create something purple and I am very happy I did just go for it.

For me the bit that inspired me for the background colours was the ombre cake with the graduating tones. The next thing that I focused on was the touches of gold and the triangles which I used in my layering of texture paste. 

And then finally the quote.... the perfect title.....

Scrap around the World - January Mood Board.

I feel very honoured at the moment.... my entry from Decembers Scrap around the World has allowed me to share with you (next month) how to create a mixed media background so stay turned. I have also created a layout for this months mood board. I must say I am starting to get the hang of mood boards, I was discussing it with another scrapping friend the other day.... I had trouble picking what elements to include in a mood board... but for those who are struggling just keep at it... you will get the hang of it!!!

So I have taken a lot of inspiration from the mood board... where to start!!! I loved the natural wood table, so I have included wood grain pp and also washi tape.  The flowers taken from the tea cups and in the bikes basket and the white flower bouquet.

I have included drew drops and gauze to mimic the glass balls and fishing net. I also took inspiration of the colour palette as well love the washed out whites and greys and I wanted the blue to pop to help support the photos.

So this is my take on Scrap around the Worlds January Mood board... and I cant wait to share with you my tutorial next month!!!!!

Scrap Around the World December challenge

Whoooo!!! I can get one more post done and one more challenge complete before the close of 2013... this time its for Scrap Around the World December mood board and optional sketch. I must say I was a little worried that I could pull this off and the sketch was the life saver in this, hopefully I did this stunning board justice...

 

So how did I interpret the board? The colours I took from mostly the aqua frames and the navy blue in the image of the books. The glitter was reflecting the metallic in the ring and the grey colour was take from the stone under the ring. The flower is in the background.

Had to add one of my favourite song lyrics "You're Nobody till Somebody Loves you" - Sam Cook, also with the addition of the texture paste I wanted to mimic the art deco lady's background.

 The layers are my interpretation of the stacked frames and the addition of the doilies where taken from the ornate book binding
