Handsome with Dusty Attic

Good morning I am here with my second post this month and as stated at the start of the month I am showing how to use your cuts files with your Dusty Attic chipboard to make, this time a boy layout.

Boy layouts I find a little bit harder to be creative with compared to girl layouts as there seems to be a lack of masculine papers out there, lets face it there is a lot more feminine papers out there so sometimes you need to be a little bit more creative with our boy pages and this is where the cut file can help that process.

So like before find a cut file that you like, cut it out and then fill it in with a couple of pattern papers, this is perfect for all the 6x6 paper pads we collect and if your anything like me you only tend to use some of it and then have a fair amount of leftovers sitting in your stash.

With this layout I really wanted to mimic the girl layout from before so then you can do a double page layout if you wanted to and have them tie together.

So we start once again use the Industrial Globes - stick throughout your overall layout.

Add the photo, now if your worried you will cover up the giant word, you can use a small wallet size photo, I love the juxtaposition between the large and the small it makes you focus on the photo and then see what your saying with your title.....

Once again add chains and IN STORE there multiple difference styles to add a heap of interest to the layout.....

Layer cogs throughout the chains and background......

*** A little tip: to create the background, pick a dark colour cardstock and stamp and stencil only in white as the white images dry, swipe the ink pad in direct lines- that way you have big, bold swipes of white throughout the background.

If the bold swipes are too big, grab a blending brush and blend some of the edges out.

On blue cardstock it reminds me of a blueprint.....

By keeping everything white it allows you to focus on the word and the photo, and allows all the chipboard shapes to pop against those colours.

I hope the post this month has inspired you to to create and include chipboard with your cut files..... if you get creating dont forget to share in the Dusty FANattics group and tag me in your post I would love to see what you come up with.

We would love to see your take on our moodboard.  Don’t forget to share your projects on our Facebook page. Why not enter the Mood Board challenge yourself?

Awesome with Craft on the Run

Good morning how are you? I am here today with Craft On the Run to share with you a little process video on how to use the new cut files with your layouts .... these cut files are exclusively IN STORE ONLY so why dont you pop down the the shop to grab yourself some new files.

Now on to using cut files with your layouts.

I have to say when this style of scrapping came along I wasn't entirely sure about it, I thought it was a little like cheating but I now realise that no it isn't. Its just how you approach it.

For me its been a little bit of a mojo booster, coordinating a title with papers and embellishments..... and I realised I didn't have to give up any of my styling and things I love to add on a scrapbook page.

Like fussy cutting.

#37/365

You can follow along with the process video.

I love paying with anything messy the joys of this is you can really custom your layouts to match your inserts of papers in your cut file.

Like using your texture stamps with Tim Holtz Oxides - Tattered Rose, Kitsch Flamingo and Ground Expresso.

I always love some gold I mean who doesnt? Just stamp over the top to add that lux touch...

To make the layout your own why not add some Dusty Attic Chipboard elements, just because you have a big word doesnt mean you cant add a title to your page.

Add elements of fussy cutting with Florabella fussy cut sheet....

Some times to finish off a layout you need a board or something to stop your background feeling incomplete so this is where washi tape is your best friend - a simple and easy to use item and a must in your stash like the Unquiely Creative Candy Strip Washi tape.

Other elements to add or to personalise your layout are things like Die cuts, to kept the and tie in your cut file cut things like Film strips in white and add in your layer.

MT-FLB-09 – Fussy Cut Sheet Florabella

TIM72591 – Flamingo Distress Ink Pad

I hope you are inspired to give this layout a go.

Till next time have a creative day
