RIP with Dusty Attic

Good morning how are you? Jeezz I am struggling with not enough hours in the day, mind you this year is coming to the closing end and I dont even know how that happened. So to try and just find some me time and just do something creative I have been playing with some of the new release from Dusty Attic Halloween collection.

This time its about getting messy and to show how you can make your own paper with some of the NEW Dusty Attic stencils.

How do you find your me time?

So to layer the templates lay down  a mass of background colour Lindy Stamp Gang mist first and let it dry. Then use the Skull and Cross bone template first, with Tim Holtz Oxide Abandon Coral. Press hard with your blending brushes in some spots and lighter in the other.

Repeat the above step with the Skull and when you had the shade right flick some water to add some oxidation to the ink.

Dont be afraid to layer a few stencils over the top of each other, if you keep it in similar tones it wont look to busy at all.

Stay tuned to see what else I created with the NEW DUSTY ATTIC RELEASE

Till next time have a creative day

Explore with Dusty Attic

Hi how are you? Have you ever had an idea of what you want to do but instead it has evolved and changed in a pleasant surprise? Well this is my surprise, I had a layout in mind but then couldnt find the right photo and and then I had the background sorted so then shuffled things back and forward and then changed it all wasnt right and this went on for hours.

 Am I the only one?

Then after a walk I came back and decided to play with just the shapes and Industrial Boarders and then my Tim Holtz oxides - Spiced Marmalade, Ground Expresso, Crackling Campfire, Chipped Sapphire, Salvaged Patina.

Just swipe your colours on, dabbing them in different sections....

To finish off I used some Art Stones and some Lindys Stamp Gang mists just dropped onto spots to give you that highlight Teal pop.

I hope thats inspired you to get a little mess and give things a go, sometimes whats in our head is good but what things evolve into are even better.

Follow along with the Process Video below:

So its all about getting messy with Tim Holtz Oxides the joys with these particular inks is they are formulated not to mix into a mud colour as they can be layered, have you tried inking this way before?

Need something to warm up the cooler tones in the background? Add a warm, luxe metallic gold over the top of the inks.....

Dont be afraid to add different textures with stencils and stamps.... layer different styles to enhance the effect of a mixed media background.

Loving the Outdoors

Good morning Rikki here for Dusty Attic and continuing from my last post its all about Summer Vibes and something a bit brighter and girly.

So it all started with the background, one of my most favourite mediums is Tim Holtz Ocides, why? Its one of the easiest inks to use so for this background its just colours swiped on the pages and then hit with water after.

So with these inks you really dont have to worry about the colours clashing and making ''mud'' colours, just make sure each colour is dry before you swipe the next colour over the top.

Once you are happy with that result then hit it with a little water .....

With such a colourful background the best way to treat the chipboard is to just spray it white and then thats it, it showcases your background and it makes the chippy pop !!!

Dont you love this title? I love that you can layer components of it.

And dont forget:
